Question:

How do fine artists make a living without teaching?

I am inclined to be a painter, though my deepest passion lies in singing & songwriting.I draw very well, but Im really passionate about singing.Im caught in the middle between different artistic mediums,& Im not really sure which one I should follow whole-heartedly.I guess Im asking that question in the hopes of fellow artists out there trying to help this amateur looking for a mentor.

I would follow your passion. Thats where your heart is, and probably where your talent lies. Art in whatever form, is an expression of yourself. Its where you let yourself go. By all means try out other things - thats how we learn, but I bet you go back to singing & songwriting all the time.

My passion lies in creative writing, and I tried other artistic forms like drawing and painting, but although I enjoyed them immensley.....I always went back to writing.
