cutiealex117,

I use these simple steps, makes it less bother. Buying a Creative Writing book does not do anything for you but make you feel too tied up and sooner or later depending on how serious you are, you become a recluse. Have you seen how thick some of those volumes for writing are?

The steps according to importance:

1 Most important!! First of all, you need ideas. When you have these, start writing a list of characters, if there are to be any and also, their names, their traits, etc. Do a small character bio. for each. It may take a bit of time, but its worth when you have a good heading and good ideas.

2 Very important!! Once you have got your ideas and character bios, sort who shall be main character but this should be easy because this was probably your first character.

3 Very important!! Ideas about a story should by now, have a setting a genre - horror, romance, etc, and a plot; what's so significant about these people in this place? -That, by the way, is your story. If you have no know-how about writing genres, do not worry These come naturally, but sometimes, writers will think to themselves whilst planning, will there be a crime or will which tow of my characters will have sex? etc... Just simple things and these create genre funnily enough!

4 Usually irrelevant somewhat. This is dialog and general themes that run throughout. Will there be dialog in your story is the question now? But I say this is irrelevant because the setting and character profiles did that. If the setting is Scotland, there will be Scottish accents, local/general Scottish history; sayings, important dates and culture/belief.

5 Important!! Unless for now you want to keep you work to yourself, which is okay by the way, address often and handful of people to hear what you have to say and read what you have to say. Their responses enable you to have full control in you story. You can take out what??s bad and what??s good, ideas that are valued or devalued on a social level. Believe it or not, narrators of story can often become powerless because their stories can spin way out of control and beyond salvaging.

So, take these tips, and only if you really want to, read a Creative Writing volume, but that is tedious and I have found it to be quite pointless too.

Good luck!!

PS. Use a computer when writing it because its quicker to go back and edit. Also, for dialog, its cheeky, but useful to take out a pencil and note book when on the bus and listen and note down what people are saying so you can get those essaential themes of culture. (",)
