Question:

How do I research the history of my old house?

I've been talking to family and friends and have known that my house is very old and has been many things in the past from a boarding house, gas station, general store and a black smith shop way back. I'd love to research this and try to find out/verify the history of my home but really don't know where to start. Any ideas?

I did research on a very old house in Minnesota and found ownership records at the County Courthouse in the Recorder of Deeds. I was able to find out who owned the house, at what time, what it sold for, etc.

Good luck.
