History of "recycled art"?!?

I am doing a project and I created a collage from litter. I now have to explain the history of i guess you could say "recycled art". Do you have any good info or, even better, websites about the history of recycled art?

Research "Junkyard Art". This is actually a great event that a lot of local governments will do for America Recycles Day and other environmental events. The City of San Francisco held a contest a couple of years ago as have many others. There are write ups all the time in industry publications such as Recycling Today, Waste News, etc. that always go into them.
