Question:

Is it okay? (writing question)?

I am writing a novel. Is is okay to write scenes from somewhere in the middle or end of the novel first, rather than start at the beginning, because I feel this will help me to get a better idea of how to start out and get to know my characters more.. So, is that okay, do you think?

No, I don't mean flashbacks, though there may be some of those. I mean writing the literal ending before I write what is literally the beginning of the novel.

Its a natural mental process to do so. Movies are written this way as well. You create scenes that the characters develop from, and then reorganize and rewrite over and over until the balance of everything is "right" for the final version. Don't be afraid to change anything later either. You will have to so if fits together.
