Technologically; they created the way to pave the roads that still exists today and with those roads they were able to create a delivery system that helped to sustain the empire.
The roads in the day were extremely important for the salt delivery.
These roads are still seen today from England to Turkey.

Politically; They created the biggest Military and organized themselves in a way that was used in battle for Centuries.
They organized the taxation system and held the church as their pawns even until this day!
