Question:

What types of poems did Emily Dickinson write?

What types of poems did Dickinson write, or showed favoritism from? (Soliloquoy, Sonnet, etc. Those types.)

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:

Actually, Dickinson defied form, although there is a certain spoken rhythm to much of her work. She is considered to be on the cusp of two American literary movements: Transcendentalism and Existentialism. She experimented a great deal with how words both looked on the page, and how they sounded. We would call her free verse, not iambic pentameter like Shakespeare's sonnets, or blank verse like Wordsworth or Emerson.
