Question:

What does this section in Andrew Marvells poem mean?

Therefore the love which us doth bind,
But Fate so enviously debars,
Is the conjunction of the mind,
And opposition of the stars.

Is metaphysical poetry about sex?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:

Line 1 The love that ties us together
2 luck jealously separates
3 is united by thoughts
4 and opposed by destiny
This complicated poem is basically saying that the two people are in love, though somehow luck or fate keep constantly separating them. The lovers are sure that thier love is real, but the future of their love was written in the stars. And opposition of the stars- the love they share is pre destined to end.
