Question:

Is there some room for changes in a Triolet poem?

The second and eighth lines are supposed to be the same, but is it okay to change one word?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:

Poetical structures, like poetry, range from strict to completely abstract. If you're writing a triolet for a class, it's best to stick to form precisely. If you're just writing it, there's no reason not to modify the form slightly in order to achieve a greater effect; just be aware it's no longer an exact triolet.
