Question: Easy 10pts! Do I have to conquer my fears for a story!?
I’m a scaredy cat when it comes to horror movies & scary/ghoulish images (and yes I know it ain't real)!. In fact I don’t like to be scared by anything period!. I’ve tried (even force myself) to try & conquer my fears, only to no avail (as I just ended up scaring myself even more)!. I’m just a scary person & I’m now willing to accept it; however, part of feel I have to overcome my fears in order to write a fantasy story that I’ve been daydreaming a lot about, which deals with horror movies!.

Should I force myself to face my fear, even though I don’t ever want to!? Is being afraid of horror movies something to be ashamed of!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

You shouldn't force yourself to write such a novel if it scares you that much!. Lots of people are very frightened of horror movies so it's not abnormal!. Perhaps writing horror stories isn't for you, have you explored other genres: comedy, military, romance, science fiction!?

If you really have your heart set on writing a horror novel, then I'd say go for it, just as long as you don't scare yourself too much!. You could also get someone to help you, or write a novel together so at least someone can help you moderate it/get rid of your fear!.

Hope I helped, good luck with your writing! :]Www@QuestionHome@Com

Don't worry it's nothing to be ashamed of!.!.!.I used to be scared of them but then I kept watching the programmes on how the blood is done and stuff and I weren't scared anymore!.!.!.I say that you should conquer your fear!.!.!.good luck (=Www@QuestionHome@Com

Hey! I'm so with you there on that fear!. I hate horror movies and my friends always drag me to them at the movies, Haha safe to say my eyes are closed or on the floor the whole time =P!. But to your question!.

Well I can see the problem of you writing a horror story especially if your so frightened of them!. It may be pretty hard since it's not your expertise i guess you can say!. What i can recommend you doing is if you still want to go in that direction is just try it out!. Start writing and see how that takes you!. It may even help concur your fears but who knows!. If it comes to a point where you still want a write just try a different genre like action or science fiction!. I'm sure you can find it in ya!

Good Luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think that if you're totally set on writing a story that does involve horror elements then you can use this for your writing!. If you can really feel the fear of your characters and you understand completely what that fear is like then you will be able to write about it much better!.
Of course it's not that simple; reading or watching horror can be scary and if you don't face that to some degree then it might be difficult!. However if you're in control of the writing and you're not being 'subjected' to the horror, you're directing it, then you may find that it's not as terrifying!. I'd say give it a go, see if it is different writing it to reading/watching it!.
If you still find it's scary then you might want to try and 'face up to it' a little more!. One step at a time!. Don't turn the lights off or read when on your own - read something a bit distant but still sort of scary!. I'd suggest Bram Stoker's 'Dracula' or something by HP Lovecraft!. Take it a bit at a time and just keep telling yourself it's NOT REAL!.
Hope this helps!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
