Question: Why is Bella, from Twilight, considered to be a "Mary Sue" when she has so many flaws!?

She's not beautiful!. She is described as plain!.
She is very very clumsy, as well!.
And, yes, I really like the Twilight books!.
I don't care if you like the Twilight Saga, or series, or whatever it's called!. So please don't give me any answers relating to "Twilight is stupid!. It lacks!.!.blah blah blah," or "It's not a Saga, its a series" or "Why do people keep asking Twilight questions, get a life"!.!.!.or anything similar to that!. I don't care!.

I think people consider Bella to be a mary sue because Mike, Tyler, Eric, Jacob and Edward all like her!. People seem to think that because Edward is basicly a god and loves Bella that it is an unrealistic story line!.

also because Mike, Eric, Tyler and Jacob all like her!. I don't think they realise that there are plenty of average girls who are admired by perfectly decent guys (Except Mike, He's a ******!) and if they take the time to read midnight sun they understand from a different perspective why guys are attracted to her!. They think because the saga ends well that the whole thing is just too perfect!. People are expecting blood and gore when they pick up a vampire book, but twilight is a sweet love story that only has blood in the necessary parts (Nobodys head explodes randomly)!.

I personally think It's a nice ending and she is just one of those girls that guys like for no real reason!. Lol!.

Being clumsy or plain aren't character flaws!. No one dislikes her for these and no one in the books apart from her actually say she's plain!. Real people have flaws like being very jealous, or quick to judge, etc!.She is also made out to be super-clever, and worshipped by everyone!.

'Mary Sue' is a derogatory term for a character which doesn't have a personality and is essentially wish-fulfillment for the author/reader!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well I'm very sorry to tell you but being clumsy isn't a flaw everyone is clutz!. She's considered a Mary Sue because she has no personality flaws, she's too nice, she's too damsel in distress!. All my friends who have divorced parents, moved school etc!. are lovely people they understand everything while she's just like my life sucks which annoys a reader!. No one likes a moaner!.!.

shes considered a mary sue because its not a flaw that she is clumsy and she is beautiful!. shes not described that way because its her pov!. she sees herself as plain but by the actions of the other people show us that she is quite beautiful!. just a question tho!. why do you disagree!? beauty and lightness of foot arent the only descriptions of a mary sue!. mainly a mary sue is a major character that the author favors!. i think stephanie meyer would favor bella because some of bellas thoughts and changes are about herself as she moves through life!. oh and as a side note twilight is a saga not a series!. so if some one tells you differently tell them to think about the fact that new moons movie title is "the twilight saga: new moon" :) hope my incredibly long answer helps!. :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

Bella is described as plain!.!. through her own eyes!.!.!. from her point of view!.!. She sees Rosalie and Alice and Edward and kind of i guess compares herself!.!.!. like THEY are beautiful, not her
But To Edward she IS beautiful!.!.!.
Like if someone took a pic of you, you might be able to pick out flaws, but other people might say "what!?! you look great!"

idk, i liked the books too, i just wish people wouldnt OCD about them, but it doesnt sound like u r OCDing about them, basically people OCDing about them and modeling their lives after them and the movie just kind of ruined it for me

now back to ur question, its supposed to be about how she is so imperfect and thats y edward loves her and its supposed to be this wonderful beautiful romance and everything, but theyre really not all that wonderful!.

being clumsy and average looking is not a flaw in her character!. the first makes her endearing to guys like a damsel in distress!. the latter is from her own point of view!. she obviously has something about her seeing as mike, eric, tyler and edward have a thing for her!. so in theory she doesnt have a flawWww@QuestionHome@Com

As the author explained, people like her because they've been living in a small town with few girls and a new girl, no matter how "flawed" is exciting, therefore, they're interested in her because she's something different than what they're used to!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

This story is told from her own persepective!. Most girls I know don't see themselves as BEAUTIFUL, they usually see themselves as average!.

Because despite her telling us that she's plain, everyone treats her exactly as if she was beautiful!. I grew up in a town that size!. No, boys there are not so starved for girls that they stop considering looks!. They treat them exactly the same as they would anywhere else!.

Clumsy!? Only when it's needed as a plot device to have Edward rescue her or carry her!. In real life, when it might be inconvenient!? Never even mentioned!. Clumsy people can't drive new vehicles without a LOT or practice - in fact they probably wouldn't even be able to drive by only 17!. Nor are they expert cooks - sharp knives and hot pans would be simply too dangerous for someone who allegedly can't walk across a flat floor safely!.

Character flaws only count as flaws if they have negative consequences!. On those terms, Bella has none!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
