Question: Ever read a book only to impress someone!?
My brother, who has a particular interest in what he calls 'smart girls' was emailing me questions on a bunch of books!. After, oh about the 15th email, I asked him why he suddenly wanted to know about these books to which his answer was as classic always: "cause that's how I get the 'smart chics'!. The fact the we even share the same blood baffles me!.

Of course, my husband thought this humourous and said he would've done the same if it would have meant it'd be easier to get my number!.

So I wonder, has anyone else done the same!? Just curious!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'd send him back really stupid answers: 'Did you know that Oliver Twist is about a hip DJ in LA!?'Www@QuestionHome@Com

anyone who reads books just to impress a chick is gonna get his butt handed to him when the chick starts asking questions about the books he read!. if you someone doesnt like books at all and just uses them as a tool to score, hes not gonna get far!. smart girls can see right through it easily so your bro isnt bagging one any time soon!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yeah, I have done that!.!.!. not really for getting into anything romantic (although I have often exchanged books with my past and current boyfriend)!. The first time I did it was to get into a group of friends that was collectively really into a series of books!. And it worked, so!.!.!. yay!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Actually, I do know people like that!. Of course, some people don't even bother to go that far!. They just skim the book, read sparknotes, or ask someone who read it to critique it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Erm!.!.!.I once read three books on Taoism to impress this "Lone Wolf McQuaid" wannabee that I was interested in!. He ended up ditching me for a girl who wasn't so eager, rofl!Www@QuestionHome@Com

No way I haven't read one to impress someone!. But somehow the info that I'm reading say War and Peace still manages to slip out!Www@QuestionHome@Com

No!. I read to enhance my skills/knowledge!. I need not to impress anyone!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Lol!.

Yeah, I have!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Smart girls will see right through his schtick and drop him like a bad habit!. I sure as hell would!. I've met men who attempt to show they're intelligent around me and I saw through it like a freshly cleaned window!.

Your brother is a tool!. If he wants to read for fun and to gain real knowledge, then great!. But in no way is he going to land smart women with this tactic!. Clearly they're too smart for him!.

And to answer the question, I've never read a book just to impress someone!. I read because I enjoy it and want to learn!. I may read a book that an interest enjoys to show I can be open-minded but never just to impress!.

EDIT:

Wow!. That was rude!. I spotted a few errors in my post that I corrected!. I don't see why a thumbs down is warranted in this response!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
