A mockingbird is a a type of bird that sings!. In "To Kill A Mockingbird" it symbolizes innocence!. You are not supposed to kill a mockingbird because they don't do anything to harm anyone, all they do is sing for people!.

That should be helpful to think about while you're reading the book!.!.!. There is another symbolic "mockingbird" at the end of the book!.!.!. but since this is probably a homework assignment, I'm not going to give that much away!.
