What makes a good book? Honestly. ?

Question: What makes a good book!? Honestly!. !?

Is it the story, how it's unique or cliche!? The characters, their personalities, their good/bad looks!? The writing, poetic, painting a picture in your head!?

Or

Is it the morals!? What the story actually means, and the standards and struggles to go along with it!?

Or is it something completely different!?

Just curious to see your opinion!.

To be honest, I'm weird!. I believe that the morals are the real key to a good book!.

As strange as I am, the story could be:

A strange man came up to a random woman and told her to take off her clothes!. The woman shouted, No, and ran off!.

The moral of that short, stupid, crappy story is: to defend yourself!. All though it's short, stupid, and crappy, I value that story more than others I've read because of the moral that counts!.

Character does have some things to with the story, but not as much as the moral, I believe!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The Elements of A Perfect Book (no particular order)
1) Really descriptive writing where you can feel the emotions and see the pictures the author is trying to make you see

2) i love romance!. even if its an adventure/suspense/horror book, there has to be a little relationship in there for me to like it!. i like seeing two characters that really care about eachother!.

3) true to life characters!. i read fantasies and i do love them, but some of the ones i have read include characters that arent easy to relate to!. i think people enjoy reading about people who go through struggles just like them, etc!. its not fun reading about someone who's totally perfect!.

4) confusion!. i love when one character thinks that another character said something, but she/he misinterprets it!. those kind of situations really drive a book forward and when characters are confused, they say things that they dont really understand to others and theres always a reaction to it!. basically, confusion adds some spice to a story!

5) a joke here and there!. it doesnt have to be LOL funny throughout, but no one likes to sit and read something with no type of innuendo at all!

For me, it's the characters!. If they don't grab me, the book is a no-go!. For example, I thought the narrator in "Dear American Airlines," by Jonathan Miles, was a whiner from beginning to end!. I can't believe I finished the book -- I kept hoping he was going to redeem himself!. He didn't, and I'll never reread that one!. On the other hand, the characters in Stephen King's Dark Tower series are complex, funny, tragic, noble, despicable, and compelling!. I'll reread the entire series someday, and I'm sure I'll find out things about the characters that I missed the first time!.

Of course, great characters don't make up for bad writing!. They're just what keep me coming back!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

does it give you a lesson!? does it make you think!?

secondly the detail you escribe the characters and setting in
for me its very important that when i read a book, i should be able to visualize the scene and characters in my mind while reading it, like a movie

good literature is where the author of the story picked every word that he/she wrote and with out that one word, it could ruin the whole book!.

a good story is where the characters are someone who people can really relate to!. they have pros and cons!. they have good traits and they have bad traits!.

a good book is where there is a plot and moral to it!. it really teaches the reader a life lesson!. the writer leaves out anything that is getting off topic and only writes about what matters!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

A mixture of everything!. A truly amazing book has good qualities in every subject!.

The book has to be well written and I like descriptive writing too!. And conflicts, I like books to be exciting and to have emotion!.
