Question: I have a well written non fiction novel, and trying to find a publisher!. !?
My novel is non fiction, and I'm having a problem finding publishers that will take it on without cost!. And I guess I'm not understanding the publishing business!? If your novel is good enough for tv, and will eventually be on television then why should I have to pay for having it published!? I should change the word from good to excellent!. I was under the impression that I write a story, publisher takes it and publishes it, I get royalty of sales and it hits the big pic!. Can someone help me with how it really works!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

I have big doubts that your story will sell if it is non fiction!. Most likely, non fictions are autobiographies, or biographies of people!. Non fiction means that it happened in real life!.

However, here is the cold harsh truth: the industry of authors is very (repeath very about 20x) harsh!. The reason why you have to pay a publisher to "read" your story is because you are buying their time!. However, even just your title could bring you down!. If they don't like the first sentence, they usually reject it right away - I know, its quite unfair!.

also, if you think about it, what if you story doesn't reach break even!? Wouldn't the publisher be at loss!? Thats why publishers are extremely picky!.

Heres a breakdown: You/your agent contacts a publisher!. Publisher publishes it to the market!. You get a small amount of the revenue!.!.!.!. we don't earn a lot as fiction authors!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

you need an agent!. you have to spend money to make money!.

and unless you or someone else has written a spec script for film its nowhere near ready for television/theaters!.

novels and writing for television are two very different formats, novels almost never get turned into a series, at the most a mini series and most of the time they are adapted into a feature!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

A novel is a fictional story!.

Do a search for the question: "How do I get published!?" and you will see that there are HUNDREDS of the same question!.

If it were THAT simple to get published, we'd all be rich, don't you think!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

More people want to get published than anything except getting into the movies!. It's about as easy!.
'I'm not understanding' suggests your grasp of English is a bit subcontinental!.
don't give up your day job, as they say!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Modest little thing aren't you!?

If it were as easy as you seem to think it is, I'd be out-selling JK Rowling and Stephanie Meyer right now!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
