Question: Does Stephanie Meyer get enough credit!?
You either love Edward or hate him, but even the haters must admit that Stephanie Meyer is a phenomenal author, both her creation of character and they way she sets the scene to get you involved with the storyline!. Ive never read anything like this since Harry Potter!. However JK Rowling gets alot more credit for her creations don't you think!.!?!?!?!?
Please don't turn this into a Harry verses Edward thing cos that's not what it's about!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Many of the Twilight haters hate the way Stephenie Meyer writes!. They really feel her language and English skills are terrible!. I can see there point of view but I personally love the way Stephenie writes, despite her small language flaws!. She is able to really capture the readers attention!.
I think she gets a lot of credit for her work!. She's already been given many literary awards and acknowledgments!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think the credit belongs to her promoters and publishers!.
I don't think she's an amazing author!. The characters are as bland as plain oatmeal, the plot is dragged out with nothing ever happening, her vampire world needs a lot of work!. Worst of all for me is the many plot holes and unbelievable events!. Yes I know vampires are not real but if you're writing a fantasy novel you should at least present the audience with a world with a scrap of what is real!.

Twilight has been marketed like Harry Potter but JK Rowling carefully planned her writings!. She borrows from our world and out myths and legends to create a charming and dangerous magical world in contrast to our own!. Each character exists for a reason, and characters die for a reason!. JK Rowling deserves more credit because she put more into the story!.

Twilight owes it's fame to the marketing behind it!. The publishers have cleverly packaged and turned a wishy washy story into a tween favourite!. There is a place for novels like these!. even though the books are long they are very quick reads!. This builds confidence in young readers!. and for this reason and only this reason I think it is good!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

actually i disagree!. i don't think she's a "phenomenal author"!. She doesn't even compare to JK Rowling!. Most of the Twilight storyline is mediocre at best and the characters are very superficial!. I'm not a twilight fan, but i admit even i fell for edward after reading her first book!. He;s the personification of the ideal guy-at first anyway!. BUT after a while it gets pretty old!. After reading the first few chapters of midnight sun that was attached to the first book, the whole appeal of edward significantly dwindled!. And all the other characters are just not developed and the endings in the books are silly and juvenile!.

I actually think she gets too much credit!. Her writing is nothing special!. i skipped through large sections of the books because they were boring and unnecessary!. Try reading a romance novel-it's pretty much the same thing!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

A phenomenal author!? You must be joking!. 2-dimensional characters, purple-prose laden descriptions, raping mythology and glorifying abusive relationships and paedophilia does NOT make a phenomenal author!. J!.K Rowling gets more credit for her creations because she deserves it unlike Meyer, Rowling knows how to write a well written book!.

Grow up and get a decent taste in literature!. Stephenie Meyer gets enough undeserved credit for her horrible series as it is!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Personally, I think Meyer has gained far more fame that what she ever deserved!. Yes, the novels are engaging!. However, the writing is childish and rushed - something which I have never seen from JK Rowling!.

A lot of people who love Twilight (and I'm not saying this is you) do not know enough about English Literature to be able to compare it accurately with other books on the market!.

However, there is nothing wrong with reading Twilight and enjoying it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well, I don't need to or must admit anything, to begin with!. I have a right to my own opinion!. I don't really get involved with the storyline, since it is nonexistent and I also sit back and crack sardonic jokes, which makes it hard to sympathize with any of her characters!.
I have read many books which are better then Twilight!.
Believe me, JK Rowling gets more credit, because she deserves more credit!.
It's not about Harry VS Edward at all!. I just think SMeyer gets more than enough credit for her (granted, light, and for some people, fun and enjoyable) but VERY overhyped series!.
Just my take on it!.

LuthienTWww@QuestionHome@Com

I don't believe this question really has anything t do with loving or hating Edward Cullen!. I personally think that Stephanie Myer gets too much accreditation!. The Twilight series, although interesting to young teenage girls and frustrated housewives, is not a great piece of literature!. If you want to read something with love and intrigue then read Anna Karenina!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Smeyer's books are NOT written VERYVERYVERY fantasticly!.
THe amount of credit she gets right now is perfect
Let it be, shes not THAT great an author

JK rowling still rocks, AND her creations DESERVE the credit she is earning!. Her Harry Potter books themselves managed to go all the way up to the 7th book didnt it!? Twilight only has four :)

SHE IS NOT A PHENOMENAL AUTHOR!. SHE IS NOTHING COMPARED TO JK ROWLING

HarryP forever ! :)
Thats just my opinion
xoxoWww@QuestionHome@Com

Okay this is my opinion!.!.!.

Stephanie does not get enough credit!. In my opinion harry Potter is just so!.!.!.Five years ago u know!? Its OLD! Twilight is NEW!. Twilight will get old to, then a new book will come out and take the markets by storm, really people, they are totally different authors, I dont think its fair to compare!.!.!.

But I think Harry Potter is pretty shallow, I got bored of it and I've read them all, And I have my English O's so I do have the knowledge of english and writing skills to comment in this!.

True twilight is marketed toward teenage girls, but when Meyer writes about bellas passion, especially in new moon, and the drrowning scene, wow, I felt like I was the one drowning i was so scared!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think that she does get credit but certainly not enough in my opinion
she is a phenomenal author and the Twilight series are the best books I've ever read!

I agree with you that JK Rowling does get loads of credit and because it's so popular and kids like those sort of magical creations she's made!.

Stephenie Meyer, best author who deserves more credit we appreciated all your efforts in writing the Twilight series keep it up!Www@QuestionHome@Com

The reason I don't like the Twilight series is because I think SMeyer is -not- a phenomenal author!. Her characters are pretty flat, while JKR's, on the other hand, are far more realistic!. That is why JKR gets more credit for her creations!. I just don't think SMeyer's writing style is anything phenomenal!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

yh stephanie meyers wrote a terrible disgusting peice of crap book and got credit for it from mad teenage lovers!. AND JKR GETS ALL THE CREDIT SHE DESERVES AND PROBABLY ID GIVE HER MORE CREDIT WITH STEPHANIE TRYING TO CANCEL HER OUT! yes steph is a phenomenal author for what she doesnt deserve!. its not harry versus edward its meyers versus rowing which pretty much sums up to the same thing!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

No, I agree that JK Rowling has gotten much credit in the past, but Stephenie Meyer is becoming more and more famous!. However, you have to agree that JK Rowling also has some good literature out there that also deserves credit!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

she shouldn't get the credit she gets now
i read a story on Quizilla JUST like Twilight a few years ago, back in 2004 maybe and i though as i read twilight a year later "this is ridiculous"
it's verrrrrry cliche and lackluster

You've got to admit, the only reason girls are drawn to it is because Edward Cullen is apparently the epitome of perfectionWww@QuestionHome@Com

I am a hater and I must admit that Stephenie Meyer is a phenomenally bad author!. Her creation of character is next to nothing!.
JK Rowling gets huge props because she IS a phenomenal author!.

Just my opinion!.

In my opinion SMeyer gets too much credit!. Sure, millions people bought the books, but that only means that teenage girls will buy anything if it involves a hot guy!. Were these books for any other audience than teenage girls, they wouldn't be so big!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

yea!. course she got enough credit!.
she got too much in fact!.
actually, i dont really like the twilight series
but!. i feel that SM already got enough and too muchWww@QuestionHome@Com

I'm sure she get's plenty of credit!. I mean, with all her royalties, I very much doubt she needs to pay cash for ANYTHING!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i think she gets a lot of credit!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

she's brilliantWww@QuestionHome@Com

More than!.

Have you SEEN how much applaud she's been getting!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think she is!. =)Www@QuestionHome@Com

personally i think that she gets far too much credit!.

i'm sorry to shatter you illusions, but the woman can't write!. she has the same level of literary skill as a 12 year old!. she just has a very clever agent and a fan base who don't have the experience to expect anything more from a book!.

thre is no conistency with her plots, she breaks her own rules to suit her her plot, she reuses the same adjectives until they offend the eyes, and her grammatical errors would make a primary school child cringe!.

she also doesn't seem to posess either a dictionary or a thesurus because she frequently uses words out of context, which suggests she doesn't even understand what they mean!.

to top it all off i watched several interviews with her and i read the rant she had about midnight sun's leak (which is what happens if you pass unfinsihed ms around like party favours) and i have to say that i find her public attitude to be one of smugness and self-importance which really puts me off too,

jkr gets more credit for several reasons, firstly the fact that she can write!. secondly her fan base is not limited to young girls, adults and children of all ages and both genders read her work!. her characters have flaws and she has a wonderful comand of the english language, every word counts, and she understands what they all mean!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
