Question: Can you be hired as a copy editor if you are under eighteen!?
I found an online copy editor position at a publishing company!.!.!.all communication is through the internet, and the only procedure you have to go through before getting hired is a screening test for grammar, mechanics, composition, etc!.

Does it sound all right for a minor to do!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

You don't say how much "under eighteen" you are!. If you are a minor, you should discuss this with a parent before applying!. You will be expected to provide proof of identify, a copy your social security card and other personal information!. Do not, of course, provide any of this info until there is a contract for services!.

Copyediting usually requires a great deal of experience!. That's the only obstacle I see for a young person!. But as long as you approach this carefully, I don't think you have anything to lose!. Do get some input from a parent, though!.

Good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

If they'll hire you, I see no problem with that!.

The youngest copy editor I knew at the newspapers where I worked was 18 when she started (I think she might have been an intern, so she didn't get paid), but as long as you know spelling and grammar, can learn the guidelines by heart and stick to them, I see no reason you shouldn't be a copy editor at 17!.

Go for it!. You won't know until you try!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It's possible to be hired but at your age and with little experience your chances of getting it are slim to none!.

Is it alright for a minor!? Probably not in my opinion because again, the experience issue!.

EDIT:

PATTI! I e-mailed you, why haven't you responded yet!? Don't make me sad now!. Haha!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I doubt they will consider someone who is still in high school with no experience, and no formal education!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
