When did Carlisle Cullen first meet Edward in the 1900's?

Question: When did Carlisle Cullen first meet Edward in the 1900's!?

I don't have my TWILIGHT book with me, a friend borrowed it, so help me, please!
I've been told that Carlisle knew Edward when he (edward) was a baby!. But by memory, I'm thinking that Carlisle first met him at the hospital when the spanish flu thing went down, and Edward's mom!.!.!. lalala!.

IN 1918!. Edward was lying miserably and alone in a neglected spot infected with the Spanish Influenza in Chicago!. Edward was only 17, and Carlisle came to check on Edward, when he felt Edward didn't deserve to die!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

He met him during the Spanish Influenza in hospital!. He was 17 at the moment!. If I remember correctly, Edward was born 1901, so Carlisle would have met him in 1918!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
