I'm just wondering why out of all the interesting, intelligent, thought-provoking characters in the book, everyone picks the Cheshire Cat as their favorite or the Mad Hatter!. Why is that!? And who is your favorite and why!?
(I'm talking about Alice's Adventures in Wonderland)Www@QuestionHome@Com Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Maybe because the Cheshire Cat and the Mad Hatter are more widely known, when characters like the Duchess and Mock Turtle are not seen in the Disney movie(Well, Mock Turtle is, but he doesn't have as big as a part in the movie, in the book he tells Alice and the Gryphon about the under water school he went to and the Lobster throw)!. Most people haven't read the book, and only go by what they have heard or seen from quotes, people, and the movie!. Everyone has heard of the Cheshire Cat and the Mad Hatter and immediately think of Alice in Wonderland…!.!. The don’t think of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, they are thinking of the Disney movie!. Still, characters in the movie like the Dormouse, the Queen, or even the Seven, Five and Two of Spades are not deemed as very likable characters in the movie!. The Dormouse is always half asleep(though I loved him for it), the Queen threatening to have people beheaded(even though no one is ever beheaded in the book or the movie and the King seems to be !.!.!.!.well, you know, an idiot), and of course the cards are seen as very minor characters whose personalities weren’t really explored !. My fave characters are the whole tea party!. I love all three of them togther!. I loved when them(Mad Hatter and March Hare) asked Alice to tell them a story, she repiles she doesn't know any, and the Mad Hatter and March Hare than ask the Dormouse!.!.!.it's so cute and child like the way they did it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com I think that the reason people pick those characters as their favorites is because they are thinking about the movie versions, in which the characters are actually slightly different from the book versions!. Disney's big purple cat does not remind me of the book cat, for instance, and the Mad Hatter's silly voice is what makes the movie character!. Personally, I love the Dodo and the Caterpillar because they are both so different and I know people who I picture as these characters, someone who thinks she sounds smart when using all her big words, and another cocky know-it-all!. They're so human and relateable, which makes them funnier as characters!. And it was immature of whoever to call Lewis Carroll a pedophile!. He maintained a purely platonic relationship with Alice and was more likely, if at all, interested in her older sister!.Www@QuestionHome@Com My favorite!.!.!. I like that caterpillar smokin hookahs!. Why do people like the nonsensical characters!?
