Question: Which book has impacted you the most, and how!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
The Giver written by Lois Lowry
This book was read to my class in elementary school, then we were assigned to read it in junior high!. I've read it a few times as an adult as well!. This book impacted me more each time that I read it!. It was the first thing that I read that taught me it was okay to go against society, even that it may sometimes be the right thing to do!. It's such a simple children's book but it has so many great messages!. This book taught me to share the beautiful things in life with others, especially those you love, you never know, it could possibly change the whole world!. I learned that going against the grain and standing up for what you believe can be painful, difficult and stressful but the outcome is worth it!. If you haven't read this book I suggest you check it out!. It has remained my favorite book since elementary school!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I have been an avid reader all my life so there really isn't ONE book I can say that impacted me the most but I can tell you that "To Kill A Mockingbird" and "The Prince of Tides" were 2 that highly moved me!.
Both involved me emotionally & I could identify with the character!.
I really related to the psychological themes & family relationships in "Prince of Tides"
Both are excellent stories & I am sure I will read them yet again!Www@QuestionHome@Com

The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman!.

Nobody Owens' family was killed when he was little!. And he has to live with ghosts all his life!. He's dead to the world!. Which is how I feel sometimes, thus it applies to me pretty well!. In the end, he's a clever guy that can outsmart a fox!. And I felt that was a strong characteristic!.

I also envied the fact that all he did was learn things, and be interested in those things as well!. Boring things like advanced biology and arithmetic!. I wish I could comprehend things like that without falling asleep, or getting distracted!. XDWww@QuestionHome@Com

Tough question!.

I can't break it down to one, but the top ones are:

"To Kill A Mockingbird" by Harper Lee
"Boy's Life" by Robert R!. McCammon (My personal favorite, and I have literally read my copy to tatters!.)
"The Hobbit" by J!. R!. R!. Tolkien
"Ravenheart" by David Gemmell
"Assassin's Apprentice" by Robin Hobb
"Dune" by Frank Herbert
"The Archer's Tale", "Vagabond" and "Heretic" (The Grail Quest Series) by Bernard Cornwell
"The Janson Directive" by Robert Ludlum
"Necroscope" by Brian Lumley
and "Nathaniel" by John Saul

Each of them made a difference in the way I saw/see things or thought/think about them!. Harper Lee and Robert R!. McCammon both tell an excellent story set in racially shaky times, which affects a child at a crucial point in their lives!. John Saul really touched something with "Nathaniel" that transcended his genre!. Tolkien and Herbert created entire societies and made them believeable, and gave them personality!. "Necroscope" had a brilliant ending, the best I've ever read!. It made me consider just how much planning goes into a story that is frivolous on the surface!. "Ravenheart" teaches self-sacrifice on a deeply touching level, and wraps it in fantasy and alternate history so we have a foundation that's solid!. Robin Hobb brings a brilliance to the story of a royal bastard that makes you overlook genre!. "The Janson Directive is Lumley at his best, with edge-of-your-seat action while trying to solve the mystery!. And, last but not least, Cornwell brings history to life through Thomas's misadventures during the Hundred Years War!.

What's not to Love!? In fact, these have so inspired me, that I'm wrapping up a 100,000 word project of my own!. I hope it's worthy of their shadows!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
