In terms of how society will view you, you simply need to write to be a writer just like how a singer sings, firefighter fights fire, and a terrorist terrorizes people!.

Express true emotions in your stories!. Write about things that interest you!. Fiction is fun and easy, you base your plot on your thoughts and feelings - your imagination!.

I personally think you should start with short stories and move along!.
