Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Ironically I can't give you a complete list because there is no complete list!. There isn't a set, end all and be all, for book genres!. I mean there is the basic genres that a lot of people follow; however, from there it gets complicated!. Even in the standard set of genres not everyone agrees on the exact definitions for them!. In the end genres are just broad categories of like books!. also no one can agree what falls into the genres and what falls into sub-genres!. You also have a few genres that have shifted meaning!. Plus you've got the cross genres that are always fun Basically if you need a list, brain storm how you would categorize books and you'll have your genres!. Okay here is my stab at it Mystery, Thriller, Suspense, High Fantasy, Urban Fantasy, Medieval Romance, Modern Romance, Dystopian, Humor, Horror, Science-Fiction, Western, Realistic, African American, Chick-lit, Action, Adventure, Gothic, Animal Fantasy, Spy, Historical, Alt History, Modern Myth, High Seas, Urban, Christian, Political, Disaster!.!.!.
