The first book that comes to mind is The Story of the Other Wiseman by Henry Van Dyke!. See http://www!.amazon!.com/Story-Other-Wise-M!.!.!. It's the story of the fourth wiseman, going to seek the newborn King!. It begins around Persia, then travels from there!. It's more about his journey than Persia, however!. Still it's a good book and rather short!. It can be read online at http://www!.gutenberg!.org/etext/10679 Gutenberg!.

If I think of any others, I'll come back and edit!.

BTW: I can think of other novels set around Jesus' time, but not in or near Persia (at least so far)!. There are books like The Robe by Lloyd C!. Douglas, The Silver Chalice by Thomas B!. Costain, Ben-Hur by Lew Wallace, Quo Vadis by Henryk Sienkiewicz and Great Lion of God and Dear and Glorious Physician both by Taylor Caldwell!. However, most of the action in these take place during the period when the apostles were spreading the Gospel!. Hopefully somebody else will be able to name some set in or near Persia!.

***Though it's before Jesus' time, you might be interested in reading the book of Esther from the Bible!. It is set in Persia and she became queen there!. There are also some novels/rewrites of her story and other information, which I haven't read but which may interest you:

-Hadassah: One Night With the King by Tommy Tenney - http://www!.amazon!.com/Hadassah-Night-Kin!.!.!.

If you're looking for a novel, you might try The Autobiography of Jesus Christ as Told to Neil Elliott by Neil Elliott!.

One interesting aspect of this book for me is that Neil Elliott is Jewish!. In his novel, he shows great reverence for Jesus but at the same time he shows us the human side, at least as he imagines it!. It's well researched for accuracy in the customs of the times and of the locations of Jesus' travels in the story!. It's not very long, about 200 pages or so!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
