No, it is not illegal!. She still owns the copyright, whether you read it on the computer or print yourself a copy!. She has made the work publicly available, so you can do what you like with it in your own home!.

What you cannot do is print copies and then sell them to your friends - you're not allowed to profit off of someone else's work!.

There is no point in trying to contact her - she is a huge celebrity author and does not have time to field every query about her work!. If it is available to be printed, you are allowed to print it!. Done!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

As long as you have no other intention, which I'm sure you don't, it shouldn't be a problem!. Plus, she has posted it for the world to see, it isn't as if you could steal it and use it!. Some computers do let you print it, but mine doesn't!. My eyes were killing me, so I understand why you would want to!.

But just to be on the safe side, read it and keep it to yourself, I wouldn't loan it out or anything!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I don't think so!. If you want to print it, I can't see that it'd be illegal because it's there for everyone to see!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

put the link on here!. ill see if i can do it!.
im a wiz at computer stuff!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yeah I tried printing it but it won't let you!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

how do you unblock the print!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think she blocks printing!.!.!.!.
but I don't see why it would be illegal!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Copyright is a very funny thing, meaning a slippery slope to negotiate!.
If the author puts up pages on her site, I'd say that's how and where she wants them to stay!.
If she wants the words printed out, she will say so up front, and/or have them printed herself!.

So, suggest you ask her about this before printing it out!.
An unscrupulous person, not you I know, might print it, bind it, sell a few copies!.
Even a few copies sold go against copyright!. If one is in place!.
Suggest you be sure what you see online is no longer under any copyright at all, first, to be safe!.

Somebody may even 'borrow' or steal what you print out and go against copyright by selling it, even a few copies!.
See!?
It's hard to tell you of an easy place to look to understand copyright in the US, because it has changed a lot over the years!.
Wiki's entry on it is enormous and confusing!.

Suggest then, also, that you call a reference librarian at a public library and put this question to him/her!. They have years of extra training and, most importantly, all the best equipment available to find up-to-the-minute copyright law!.

ADD: An unlocked 'print' doesn't hold much water here, I'd say!.
Copyright still applies to DVDs and CDs even though so many think copying them is just fine!.
It still applies to a lot of work, online as well as on paper!.

Lots of stuff is copyrighted and lots of folks don't know it until someone may decide to 'check' and things go to court!.
Better safe than sorry!.

Suggest also you cut the brightness of your computer screen if you have yet to do so!. At 50% brightness, a screen of words are a lot easier to read!. A manual you probably have will tell you how, or search for info on your machine online!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
