Not many aspects of life are black and white anymore!. Pi realizes that there are several grey areas as well!. Remember, he calls the white guy that won the University prize something like "a beef-eating pink boy"-- but then he had to kill a fish and eat other animals himself while he was on the raft/lifeboat (he might even have eaten bits of the blind cannibal guy he met towards the end of the book)!. Therefore, he becomes a more open-minded person after his experiences on the boat!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
