Question: Every new "vamp" book will be compared to Twilight!. Statement of fact!?

So, now that everyone is so big on Twilight I fear that EVERY vampire book will be "compared" and criticized if it isn't like Twilight!.

What are your thoughts on this!?

As a writer I am a little vexed, to be honest!.

Twilight shouldn't be compared with other novels, because it isn't a novel that is worth being compared to!. No writer should aspire to write a novel that is 'as amazing as Twilight!' because Twilight is not amazing!.

I would be annoyed too, because I would hate to have my work be criticized by people who don't seem to have an idea about what good literature is!.

Vampires that are not 'charming' like Edward will most likely be frowned upon, and a lack of romance between a vampire and a human will be disliked!.

Twilight may have ruined the future of many books with vampires in them!. :( Www@QuestionHome@Com

Twilight is an awful book that has completely destroyed the Vampire myth!. In ten years nobody will carea bout Twilight!. heck, try 5!.

For thousands of years all vampire myths have been fairly solid with minimal variation - ie fangs, aversion to sunlight, garlic and silver because it kills them!. All of a sudden SMeyer comes along and makes them sparkle and have no fangs!? As a book that takes vampire lore and throws it out the window it will not be remembered or used as the "staple" for vampire characters!.

The only ones that will be compared to twilight will be the hundreds of "teen" vamp romances that are sure to come out as all of the obsessed fans try to copy it!. Most books in this genre will continue to be compared to anne rice and bram stoker for better or worse!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I don't think they will, at least not after a while!. If you wait a while to get yours published, then i think the hype will have died down so not everyone will be so concerned about Twilight anymore, and they will not feel like they have to berate other books if they are not just like TwilightWww@QuestionHome@Com

For NOW!. But sorry to any Twilight "lovers forever" it'll be over before you know it! It sucks for all vampire-fantasy-writers out there! MY book is now going to be accused of STEALING Meyer's "Edward!." Jeez!. I mean I AM capable of thinking up my own characters!. Probably fact because of all the hype the bookstores and theater!.!.!. not to mention other products they're pushing for this one!.

I don't get it either since there are alot of other vampire stories that I like a lot more!.

Look at Sookie Stackhouse Southern Vampire Mysteries!.!. IT has a tv series on HBO but they aren't going all gaga over it!. ITs one of my
favorites!. (although the show is way different from the books)

Anita Blake Vampire Hunter is also well developed and interesting much more so than Twilight!. Think of all the promotions that this could develope!.

Heck Ann Rice with Lestat and Louis!.!.!.not to mention the Freaking Queen of the Damned!.!.!. didn't create this kind of manic hype!.
