Question: What shall I read next!?
I'm just finishing book 6 (A Breath of Snow and Ashes) of the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon!. I've been reading this series non-stop for MONTHS, so I'm kind of excited to turn to something new!.

So, what should I read next!? Here are a few I was considering!.!.!.

Dreams From My Father by Barack Obama
The Wise Woman by Philippa Gregory
The Virtues of Selfishness by Ayn Rand
The Screwtape Letters by C!.S!. Lewis
The Inheritance Series (I've read Eragon and Eldest, but would re-read them before reading Brisinger for the first time!.!.!.)

Those are just a couple of my ideas!. Any other suggestions would be much appreciated!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Hi There!.

Each of those books have been recommended to me, some by several people, so we must know similar people! Because so many people have given it a glowing recommendation, I think I would read the Obama book next, if I was only choosing from those on the list!. also, now that he is officially the president elect, what could be better than having a further insight into our new Commander and chief!?

From my own list, I will suggest Paulo Coehlo's The Alchemist!. It sounds like you are a pretty avid reader, so you might have taken this one in already!. Was very popular in the 90's but I didnt get my hands on it until about a year ago!. Best book I've read since Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides (also superb!)

Lastly, can you tell me some more about the Outlander series you mentioned!?

Cheers!

I'd skip Ayn Rand!. There's a giant hole in her analysis in that she thinks greed is humanity's sole motivator and doesn't account for compassion!. I'd also skip anything Obama wrote!. Not because I don't like the guy, but a politician's book is always self-serving tripe!. I can recomment "Ain't Nobody's Business if I do" by Peter McWilliams!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Your ideas for books are good!.

I would also suggest "The Golden Compass" series by Pullman (three books total) and (sorry) the "Twilight" series!. Both are very interesting and worth reading!.

I'm a huge fan of Tamora Pierce books as well!. "Alanna" is the first in that series!. (16 books in series so far, plus another series by same author!.)Www@QuestionHome@Com

My vote is for Ayn Rand!. I've read that book before and it's one of those that you keep going back to!. I'm sure you're already aware, but it's a short book that's essentially just a compilation of essays!. You're probably aware of her other books as well, including one of the best ever written (period), Atlas Shrugged!. That's a pretty solid read that should eat up months by itself, but it's well worth it!.

And while I respect the fact that he doesn't like her AND gave real reasons instead of pre-packaged tripe, I have to disagree with "honestly now"!.!.!.the previous poster!. I think the message doesn't preach a lack of compassion, but rather the dangers of blind compassion and altruism!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
