Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Pro,
It can revive memories of when you were a child and someone read to you!.

Con,
Reading requires you to think, comprehend, so, you don't exercise your mind nearly as much with audio!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I don't really like audio books!. I like to control the pace in which I read, and figure out the author's tone by creating that mental-picture in my head by myself ))

also, authors in audiobooks often tend to mistakenly or deliberately pass over text which they have written in their books, so you might not get the full story!.

At least, that's what happened when I got the audiobook for Barack Obama's "Dreams From My Father"!.!.!.Mr!. Obama skipped so many passages in the book (I was following along with the text version), and it got quite frustrating!

But of course, if someone's blind or visually-impaired, or a just plain slow reader, I see no harm in audiobooks )Www@QuestionHome@Com

, not getting the whole story!.the pros are you can do other things like cooking or walking the dog or just tune the world out!. the cons are you can ruin supper you can't hear the dog whining because a truck is bearing down on you because you forgot to wear your jacket with the reflective tape or you can tune the world out and not hear the phone ringing in the other room telling you that you have to call the radio station with in 30 minutes to claim your grand prize in their contest and have won $5,000!. most of all it is distracting and you do let you mind wanderWww@QuestionHome@Com

Pros
you can get many for free from podiobooks!.com or under podcast on itunes or books on CD at you local library!.
you can often consume them at work also driving, walking, as you read you email, with your eyes on were you are going!.
You know how the words are pronounced like rendezvous

Cons
Most that are not free are way overpriced and some also have DRM
If you listen to the podcast book you wind up buying the print!.
You wind up buying an external hard drive to store you podcast books!.

We still don't know if audiobooks encourage or discourage reading!. I asked in different forms and usually the people who like audiobooks say it does and most people who don't like audiobooks say it doesn't!.

M that is why I only use one earbudWww@QuestionHome@Com

I think the only pro really, is that you don't have to be sedentary to "read!." I often find myself planning out times to read, because I have so many other things going on!. The cons are, just like TV, you can miss key points, and details!. And it really just isn't the same as reading!. It is easier to imagine something as you read it, as opposed to hearing it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Pros:
You don't have to read!. Just listen!.
You can listen wherever!. You can't read in the car, or while youre walking!. But you can listen to an audiobook then!.

Cons:
The narrators voice!.
The price!.
The amout of cd's!.
You'll look lazy!.
You wont have a copy of the book, if you like it!.

Pros: If you love to read but have a hectic work/life schedule, audiobooks are a terrific way to satisfy the crave!. They are perfect if you have a long commute, or if you drive a lot!.

Cons: as long as the audiobook is unabridged, I don't see any cons!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Most are condensed, so it is like having someone read to you from reader's digestWww@QuestionHome@Com
