Like you, I simply can't part with my books -- It's a family trait! Even my kids read by childhood books and love to compare it with the more modern additions!. I love comparing book covers!. For example, my edition of Alice in Wonderland has Alice falling down the rabbit hole on the cover!. Other edtions are different!. Same with Wind in the Willows, Little Women and so on!. How can I ever throw out a book !.!.!. they carry so many memories!!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I used to but not so much since my sons learned to read!. and I used to live near a new library that wasn't overrun with books!.
I regret donating a copy of Scott Sigler's Earthcore because it didn't wind up on the self and since the author now has a different publisher and Earthcore is out of print it would cost a lot to buy on ebay!.
I can still get the audiobook free and have the PDF but it is not the same as a dead tree book!.
I would get rid of book except the ones I bought to support my favorite podcast and some other of my favorite authors!. Unless I have more that one copy!.

I give away some of my paperback brain candy books - like Patricia Cornwell novels, Sue Grafton, Tom Clancy, Jack Higgins, Robert Ludlum, etc!. If I try to find a book in the library, and it isn't in the catalog, I'll get a second-hand copy, read it, then donate it to that library!.

I keep books that I really like, books that, if I ever have children, I would want to pass on to them!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

As I buy lots of books in charity shops and I mean lots! I tend to keep the ones I really like or have a collection of for a particular author, the rest after reading I give back to other charity shops or pass on to friends!. I would need a huge house to keep all the books I have read over the years!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I don't give them away!. I collect them!.
I tend to read my favourites several times over!.
