Question: Is it okay to swear in an essay when it is from a quote!? If not, how do I mark that there was a word there!?
I have a quote from Stephen King's Duma Key to represent how the main character broke down in the beginning, but the quote that I want to use has the word f*ck in it!. I'd like to avoid it if possible, but it proves my point SO well!. Shoudl I use it, or change out the word for something!? What!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Go for it and swear in that essay!

If you need to change it then you can just write it like you've put it thereWww@QuestionHome@Com

Well since its Stephen King, which is like classic, it probably would be okay!. But if your teacher is ridiculously old-fashioned AND strict, use * in place of the U or the UCK!. Or if you do use it, he/she could admire you for your guts for doing so!. Maybe you could ask your parents about it!? If I were you, I would probably ask the teacher before hand!.

Hope I helped and good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Either use the quote or paraphrase the passage!.

Unless you've got some ridiculously old fashioned English teacher assigning the paper, it shouldn't be an issue!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If you don't use it you aren't really quoting so you have to use it!. No two ways about it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
