Usually not!. Fines are minimal and almost never exceed the cost of a book, even after years!. If it does, however, somehow exceed the cost of the book, leave, call or come back, and just tell them you lost it a long time ago and the most they can charge is the replacement cost!.

Your best bet, however, is waiting for "national library week," which I believe is in April, when most libraries waive all late fines and fees - no matter what amount - for that particular week!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
