there have been many books that have been turned into holly wood movies over the years ,the big ones at the minute have to be the harry potter books (which i actually do like !) but there have also been a few that were not so good ,i was soooo disappointed with p!.s i love you ,loved the book ,hated the film!! what are your best and worst book to film movies !?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Les Miserables ( Even though it skipped many parts, the acting was great!)

I think the Harry Potter films do the books justice, in most cases!. But I do feel like they don't do their research sometimes, like they won't include something I feel is key to understand the next film, if you are a non-reader!.

In Her Shoes is a huge disappointment compared to the book, the movie alone is really good, but it isn't much like the book!. The Devil Wears Prada is another one, great movie, but not at all like the book!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Hate the Harry Potter movies!.!.they change and delete so much from the books which were so good!.!.!.!.!.Golden Compass (Northern Lights) book was also better than than the movie!.!.!.!.

Loved the Lord of the rings movies, better than books!.!.!.!.!.also the TV show 'Jeeves and Wooster' was as funny as the books!.!.!.'A Series of unfortunate events' books and movie!.!.!.both were great!.!.!.!.'The Shining' was a scary book made into a more scary movie!.!.!.!.!.

I hope the Twilight movie would be better or atleast good enough as the book!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

for worst- gotta go with another Stephen King title and say Needful Things

I understand Hollywood can't do the book word for word or scene for scene but it would be nice if they kept the majority of characters and storyline!. They have a bad habit of eliminating things that would help to make the movie better and more likable!.

For instance with the Harry Porter movies!. Was it really necessary to keep out Peeves!? He was great for comedy reliefWww@QuestionHome@Com

I loved the James Herriot books, but hated all the attempts to 'dramatise' them, including the boring TV series!.

The written word conveys a humour and a familiarity that is instantly lost when it is bastardised into another form!.

Best for me were the Tolkien books adapted to film!. Even the characters matched up to my image of them!.
The Green Mile also lived up to expectations!.
The Kite Runner was pretty good though I did prefer the book!.

Worst would be 'Captain Correlli's Mandolin'!. They missed huge chunks out of the story and the ending was nothing like the book!. Very disappointed with that one!.

Have avoided 'The Golden Compass' as the books were so good I don't know how the film could do justice to them!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
