Question: Any Kurt Vonnegut-type recommendations!?
I read several of his books at the start of the year, and I'm feeling in the mood for something similar!. Can anyone recommend some authors who have a similar style/sense of humour to Kurt Vonnegut!? Perhaps contemporaries or writers influenced by him!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Vonnegut is really a one-of-a-kind!. I have a hard time thinking of anyone I'd compare him to!. On some levels, I would think maybe Heller (Catch-22) would be up a similar alley!.

You may also enjoy Chuck Palahniuk, the author of Fight Club, who I think is a fantastic, funny, quirky and imaginative writer who I would guess was strongly influenced by Vonnegut, though I've never seen an interview with him!.

As far as just being funny, quirky and imaginative, some other authors that come to mind are Robert Anton Wilson (a personal favorite, though definately not for everyone--his Illuminatus! trilogy is probably his most famous work) and Tom Robbins (Still Life with Woodpecker)!. I think both of these guys were influenced by Vonnegut, and while I think in their own ways, some of their stuff goes beyond where Vonnegut could go, I don't think their writing was/is on the same level with his!. Fun stuff though!.

Good luck with your search!.
