Eragon (Read this one before you read the other two in the series) which are Eldest, and Brisingr: by Christopher Paloni(they are really good)

Some of my favorites were/are:

To Kill a Mockingbird

The Sammy Keys series by Wendelin Van Draanen (The author has a great name, huh!?) or The Shredderman series by the same!. Sammy Keys is a 7th & 8th grader who happens to be a good detective!. Shredderman is more about boys, and younger - like 5th grade!. But the stories are good!.

A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson
In a Sunburnt Country by Bill Bryson

The Borning Room by Paul Fleishman

The Little House series by Laura Ingalls Wilder (The books are MUCH better than the TV show!.)

Early Autumn by Robert Parker

Anything by Tom Bodett (especially on audio, if you can get it; he has a great voice)

Flight by Sherman Alexie

Anne of Green Gables by L!.M!. Montgomery

The Hot Rock by Donald Westlake

Dicey's Song by Cynthia Voight

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time by Mark Haddon

The Number One Ladies Detective Agency by Alexander McCall Smith

They're not all girly books but they're great reads!.
Happy reading!
