Question: Is writing a blog about a book a bad idea!?
Is it true that a publisher will not work with a book that has been seen on the internet!?

The reason I ask is because I am writing my first novel, and I had an idea that if people saw very (and I mean very) short sneak peeks of the book that got them interested, then they would be more likely to buy it and refer it to friends a relatives once it is on the shelf!. But tonight I read something from a fellow Yahoo! Answers user that made me think otherwise!.

I was planning on starting a blog, just a general blog to write in about my life and strange events of random days like plenty of teenagers do!. But in the midst of that blog, I was planning on throwing in some entries about the novel I am writing, entries to introduce the two main characters and how I relate to their personalities and such, and giving my friends / blog readers updates on how the writing process is going!. Maybe even throwing in a sentence or two to get people interested!. If I did this, would my chances of being published in the future be altered at all!?

Like I said before, I would think that a publisher would be happier to see that people are already interested in the book!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

I wouldn't post anything online purely due to plagiarism concerns!. Some of the people who like your idea, won't hesitate in stealing it!. That being said I do like the idea of getting hype for the book through a blog!.
One thing you could do would be to write it first, posting things like 'I worked on the novel today, will post some soon' to gain hype for the people who read your blog, but don't put any on until it's finished and you've shown it to a publisher or had it copyrighted!. That way people know you're writing a novel and want to read it, but can't actually steal it!. The other thing you could do would be to post small bits of it online like the title, character bios, or small one liners that show off your writing without giving anything away!.
Good luck, I'd love to read the blog!Www@QuestionHome@Com

It's not wise to post something in a place like The Internet!. Most likely it can be copied off of you!. If you like to give some sneak peeks, how about gathering around your friends and family to show some insights in your novel!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Do NOT put something online that are planning to publish!. You can discuss the book, but I would highly recommend not putting actual text on the internet!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

DO NOT PUT ANYTHING YOU PLAN TO PUBLISH ONLINE! It is simply asking to be stolen and plagarized!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
