Depends on where you are!. In the United States, there are different types of detective!. There are police detectives, private detectives, and so on!. You cannot become either of those things until you are an adult, and for a police detective you need a lot of training and experience, and you have to pass a difficult test!. Private detectives have to be licensed!. As for "motivation", I assume you mean what makes a person WANT to be a detective!? You can surely make that part up for the purposes of your novel!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well!.!.!.my favorite detectives have a gift for seeing things others don't!.!.!.and they're able to put these little things together and make big things out of them which lead to the case being solved!.!.!.these are TV detectives though!.!.!.not sure if there's a dramatic difference!.!.!.

So your detective could maybe as a child (unless it's supposed to be a child detective, either way) Could just realize they have a knack for seeing the unseen!.!.!.they're able to think logically!.!.!.they have a want to help others!.!.!.there could be a certain case that hit close to home with them and they felt compelled to help solve it because of something that happened in their life!.!.!.

That's my input!.!.!.if I knew more about the character I might be able to help more!.!.!.maybe!.!.!.hope I have helped though!Www@QuestionHome@Com
