On the book it said it was a "Science Fiction Lord of the Rings" Has anyone read it!? If so, can you tell me how good it is!? And what are the books in order!? Www@QuestionHome@Com Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Dune, Dune Messiah, Children of Dune, God Emperor of Dune, Heretics of Dune and Chapterhouse Dune!. This is hands down the most incredible Sci-Fi series I have ever read!. Its not easy reading, though!. Frank Herbert's story and characters are so in-depth and overwhelming!. Political, religious, and scientific factions are constantly warring with one another for control of the known universe!. There are plots within plots!. I can't even conceive of the effort it took to write these books as well as he did and keep everything tied together cohesively!. I will forever be saddened by the fact that Frank died before writing the final book, but his son is in the process of finishing the series based on the huge collection of notes left behind by his father!. His son also wrote some prequels a couple of years back, that explain how humanity came to be the way it is!. Why computers are outlawed and certain men have been trained to have brains capable of computing like a computer!. How a sect of women created their own religion and rose to unequaled power within the Empire!. How Dune was discovered and why it became so important!. These books were also written based on old notes, supposedly storage units and boxes so full it took numerous people years to organize and catalouge all of it!. I have read everything up to these last three books written by the son, and the last one just came out in hardback, so as soon as it comes out in paperback I will finish the last three books!. If you love Sci-Fi, then at least try the first book!. They only get better from there!. Hope you enjoy!. There have been 2 Dune movies, a weird (but fun) interpretation done by David Lynch in the 80's, and a newer (and much more comprehensive) mini series done by the Sci-Fi channel, 6 hours long!. The Sci-Fi version really follows the plot and characters closely, but skimps slightly on the special effects!. Sci-Fi also filmed a sequel that combined the 2 and 3 books called the Children of Dune!. also, try Robert A!. Heinlein!. He has written some incredible stuff!. Some of it is just average space fun, but some is hard-core, make you re-evaluate your world and your place in it kind of books!.Www@QuestionHome@Com it's pretty good, the first, second and third are very interesting and pretty intense!. However, he last few ones are really weird!.!.!. After that they get progressively worse!. The first 4 as a whole though are quite enjoyable, after that the author clearly started to lack enthousiasm for the project but went on for the sake of the publisher and maybe reader pressure!.Www@QuestionHome@Com |
