Question: Tess Of The Durbevilles!?
What do you think of the book, Tess of the Durbevilles compared to the television series!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Okay, well:

I loved them both; the television series came out when I was reading the book, so that was convenient; when I was on page 50 I saw the first show, and we watched the rest later that day (we had them taped!.)

Film:

- I think the actors were wonderful, particularly Tess and Angel; they were very good, and I believed it, and I was majorly mad at Angel when he left Tess!.
- It helped me with the book, because, sometimes, when I don't concentrate on reading I kind of carry on reading without taking in what I'm reading, if you get what I mean; whenever this happens, it's almost always with classics!. (I mean, I love classics, but you know, the language is very different!.) so it was good when I saw the film because I understood exactly what was going on!.
- I thought the scenery was beautiful!.
- I thought it was probably the most tragic thing on TV I ever saw, and that includes movies, including Titanic!. Everyone died or was heartbroken!. It was just so sad; but I guess that's the point!.
- Almost made me cry - and, that, is a big thing for me!. (Apart from one time in english; ga, that was embarrassing!. It was this really sad ballad!. Everyone stared at me!. I felt ridiculous )

The book:
- Wow!. Wonderful; one of the best classics I've ever read, intense characters, could understand what was going on (a bonus!.)
- The themes explored were deep but it was story that could happen, and probably did happen, (well, not all of it, but the rest of it) that most people just ignored because it wasn't convienent to see!. They didn't like seeing it, so they pretended it didn't exist!.
- Loved Tess; thought she was fantastic - she dealt with everything so well, considering!.
- There were times when I really wanted to hit certain characters: Angel, his brothers, that mean person who's name I can't remember!.
-It was so sad; just, so, so sad!. Even when my mum told me that he wrote tragic books, I didn't quite realise how tragic she meant!.

Hope I helped!. Remember to pick best answer!. : ) Www@QuestionHome@Com
