Jane Eyre!.!.!.The newest Masterpiece Theatre version is very good, though I have not seen the older adaptation!. Wives and Daughters!.!.!.Another Elizabeth Gaskell adaptation; a little slow, but very funny in parts!. The stepmother is especially horrid/hilarious!. The Count of Monte Cristo and Les Miserables have also been made into movies, though they are not very true to the novels, especially not Les Miserables!.Www@QuestionHome@Com Here are the books!. The movies have the same titles except where noted: "Ben Hur" by General Lew Wallace "Gone With The Wind" by Margaret Mitchell "To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee "Hombre" by Elmore Leonard "Shane" by Jack Schaeffer "The Outsiders" by S!.E!. Hinton "The Princess Bride" by William Goldman "Lonesome Dove" by Larry McMurtry "No Country for Old Men" by Cormac McCarthy "Schindler's Ark" by Thomas Keneally (one of the rare situations where the movie, "Schindler's List," is better than the book!) "From Here to Eternity" by James Jones "Hawaii" by James Mitchener (the basis of two films: "Hawaii" (1966) and "The Hawaiians" (1970) ) "A Tale of Two Cities" by Charles Dickens!.
