For me it was john Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath!.

Although it was many years ago that I read it, and I have read hundreds since, this was the most emotional book I have ever read!. i wept and wept at the plight and downward spiral of a hardworking family!.

It really disturbed me at the time, to think that a whole family, their lives, dreams and future could be so completely destroyed by the greed of others!.

As for a book that made me laugh, well I had to think about that, (not really into laughing books)! But recently I read The Devil Wears Prada, a real good laugh at the fashion industry!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Short stories that also evoked strong emotions include the "Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass"!. This was a tear-jerker!. Not only was this true but you can practically feel what he's going through as a slave!. "Metamorphosis" by Franz Kafka was a good one too!. It really made me think of what/where I'm at in life/work!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
