It just gets on my nerves - if someone loves a book they should be allowed to love it!. I've seen it with Harry Potter, Jane Austen, Meg Cabot, Gossip Girl, and now I'm seeing it with twilight!. It's a virtual war!. Please tell me your opinions on this - and please, no swearing or saying certain books are awful or anything!. And please don't give people thumbs-downs for no reason; it's irritating!. Respect everyone's opinions!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

I will try and give an honest opinion, since this is the first serious questions about this I've read in a while!.

I am not annoyed because people like/love/are obsessed by a book, want to marry the main character albeit fictional and/or undead, cannot stop thinking/dreaming/talking about the subject etc!. I have had these fads, I know what it's like, though I have to admit, I never wanted to marry a fictional character!. This kind of thing merely amuses me!.

I am not annoyed by bad literature, either!. I feel that literature is a playing field, and much can be done, although many things shouldn't be done!. Many, many things!. Nobody forces me to read or like it, though, so there's no reason for annoyance there!. (And even then, I would be mad at the person making me read it, not at the book itself!.)

I am, however, deeply and seriously annoyed by the following things:
1) People who keep talking and talking about a particular thing/novel!. Especially if these people spam up a forum which I formerly liked to participate in!. That was before Twilight - although, obviously, this book (my opinion of which I have stated before) offers endless discussion points, such as "Is Edward the sexiest man alive!?" (No!. He cannot be, because a) he is not alive, but a fictional AND undead, and b) he is not a man, but a 17 year old boy!.) or "Twilight is the greatest book ever, right!?" (No!. Not in size, not in quality, not in price!.!.!. Oh my, I can't seem to find any category in which I consider it great, except maybe Amazon sales!) This annoys me and makes me want to leave "Books and Authors" for fields with some more interesting discussions!.
2) Being pestered with ever the same recommendations also annoys me!. Some guy/girl asks for a serious book recommendation, and before I even have the time to consider their age, likes and dislikes, at least three people scream "TWILIGHT! TWILIGHT! TWILIGHT!" (Cue frantic yapping here!.)
3) I am also annoyed if people insult me, give me thumbs-downs (and I feel a few more coming this instant) and generally dislike my very existence simply because I give an honest, unbiased opinion of any particular text!. Let's take an example!.!.!. Oh, wait, what about "Twilight"!? On several occasions, I have tried to state in simple words why I do not and will never like this so-called "masterpiece"!. I have never insulted anyone, except maybe the author for ever touching a pen and driving some millions of teenagers mad!. Yes, that annoys the living daylights out of me!. Never once have I simply said that the novel is crap (which is true, yet not my style)!. I have always given reasons!. But if I'm not a livid Twilight defender, I am not only disrespected, I am downright attacked!.

While I don't mind people being passionate and express clearly what they think about whatever books that they read, I found it annoying when they do so repeatedly and at the inappropriate places!. There are times when you come to this section and find that most of the recent questions posted here are regarding Twilight (for example)!. It becomes like a fan club already! If you want to say how adorable you find Edward is, or how lovable the books are, why don't you go to the fan groups or something!? Though it's not agaist the rules to post that sort of question, you might like to consider that not everyone likes Twilight or Harry Potter or whatever!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I love to read! If I could get paid to read I would!. I do know what you're talking about though!. A lot of the 'haters' out there usually are that way when they have had a bad experience with something similar or didn't like something by that author and think all of their work is bad!. I can however see where some of them are coming from when they get irritated with the girls who are in love with FICTIONAL CHARACTERS!. That I think is the stupidest thing I have ever heard of!. Liking a character is one thing but saying you LOVE them or that they are HOT when they aren't real and you can't see them is just dumb!. Now, if you say that about the person who plays that character in a movie(if the book has been turned into a movie) that is completely understandable!. To the people who are 'in love' with or think fictional characters are hot, you need to put down the book, go outside, and find a REAL person to have those feelings for!. One can be passionate about something without shouting about it from the rooftops!. I don't think any reasonable person begrudges someone else's enjoyment of a book - it's when a certain opinion (individual or collective) is constantly rammed down everyone's throats that people start to get tetchy!.

For example: a lot of people like Twilight!. It's not my cup of tea, but to each their own!. What annoys me is when whole pages in the books and authors section here on YA are filled with, "Who thinks Twilight is the best series EVER!?!?!!?" and "OMG I am sooooo obsessed with Edward and I want to marry him!!!!!!!!?" Aside from the fact that girls saying things like their life is destroyed because Edward is not real is eye-rollingly silly, such effusive and hyperbolic declamations properly belong on fansites, not on YA!.

So while I don't agree with lover-hater flame wars I can understand that a frustration with vapid and repetitive discussion can boil over into petty retaliation!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Because, in my opinion, some people don't have much experience with books!. Some people read ONLY Twilight, and say it's "the best book everrr@!!!!111" without even comparing it to other books!.

Some people are too inexperienced with books that they can't distinguish good literature from bad!. And sometimes, those people can be annoying!. Other people get annoyed easily and so, people fight!. People fight over some book that isn't even worth fighting for!.!.!.

But I think the most important part is enjoying!. After all, these books are created for reading pleasure!.!.!. I've read the Twilight Series, admitted that it's bad writing, but I still enjoyed it!.

expressing your opinions on a book is one thing, but when a multitude of teenage girls say that twilight is the best book ever!. it kinda bugs me because i realize that they have never read anything else, books are about more than what happens to be fashionable, and right now twilight has been turned from a well respected book into "captain underpants"!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

not every book apeals to every person!. i love twilight but my best friend hates it!. People who love books are generally old !.!.!. and the are very conservative !.!.!. and teens don't read very much!.!.!. so how can you manage reading something when everybody is of a different opinion!. i love books! I love to read!. I currently own 71 books which are in my room!. i like jaquiline wilson, meg cabot and lots of other authors! I dont know! When your nose gets stuck in a good book it is not ur fault! Although Harry Potter is the only one of those books i have read, i have had similar things with GRacie Faltrain, Eragon, Eldest, and all these other books!.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but when they can not back up their opinion, I get irritated!. So many Twilighters will say "I love twilight cuz its so well written!" Well, why is it well-written!? Can you provide some examples!?

Besides, it's annoying when so many REPEAT questions clutter up what used to be a section for people who actually care about books besides Twilight!.
