Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Oh, I know, I'm in the same boat!. I've been trying for a long time, but every single time I get to a key point in the story!.!.!. I lose it!. Then I have to shove it in a drawer and forget about it!. I hate it!. I've been dreaming of the author thing since I was like five and all I can recommend is pay attention in English!. also, libraries have useful posters up in there all the time and sometimes you get lucky and a workshop might be run by someone really famous!. I'm just as clueless as you, though, really!. Choose a topic that you know a lot about or a story that is alive in your mind!. If you have characters, get to know them well and make sure their personalities are fun to read about!. Make sure you describe with a lot of details to help your readers understand what is happening (readers don't usually like to pause and reread if they don't understand)!. If your setting is something from real life, study it! For example, a city in Texas!. You should look up all the different things you can, like population, climate, business!.!.!. It will make your story more realistic (if that's what you're aiming for)!. When you finish, have someone read it over!. Once it looks good to them, then you can go hunting for a publisher!. About 1,000 words!. Want a short cut!? Write 2,000 words a day!. And this does not include you work in progress!. The daily writing is like batting practice!. The more you write, the better you will become!. Check to see if your school or library has a young writers group!. Find a local author to serve as your mentor!.
