Question: Would you read a book written by a 14 year old!!?
Okay I'm 14 years old and I am writing a book/ novel right now!. I know most people would think that the book would be bad because of my age and I have had a lot of people tell me that!. But if my book ever got published would you read it!? I've had my english teacher see it and he says it looks like an adult wrote it (I'm good with vocabulary) and my friends have already read the first chapter and are wanting to read more!. The reason I am asking this is because a lot of people look at the age of the author and just think its gonna be bad!. Please answer truth fully and tell me if you would at least read the back of the book before judging the age of me!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Of course I would read your book, if it was well-written and had a story and style that appealed to me!.

I think the misgivings most people have about young authors (ie: around your age) is that, no matter how differently you might see yourself at the moment, most fourteen year-olds don't have the life experience or writing experience to come up with an original idea and present it in a way which will appeal to a wide (ie: including adult) audience!. I'm not saying you necessarily fall into this category, and obviously there have been many young authors published who have garnered great success - Christopher Paolini and Nancy Yi Fan, for example - but that's just the way people think!.

If your book were to be published, the publisher would decide whether to make a big deal of your age or not, depending on what they judge would create the most interest in your books and result in the most sales!.

Good luck with your ambitions!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Of course I would read it, providing that it's well written!. If you have talent and a passion for writing, keep doing it! Who cares what people think about your age, if it is written well enough and gets published, then you would have already proved that you can do it to the people who thought you couldn't!.
Oh and for the record, just from your question it's obvious you have better writing skills than the majority of adults these days so well done!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'm 15 years old and last year, there was this brilliant idea I had for a novel and i felt like i really had to write it so i started writing and told my friends about it!. they were really excited about my novel and finally, i finished it last July!. turned out it was really good and they really loved it!.

if the story is interesting, then i don't see a reason why i shouldn't read your novel!.

keep writing! =]Www@QuestionHome@Com

I probably would myself, I think with most people though as long as they don't see the age of the author before they read it many will be amazed that somebody of that age could write that well (when they find out later)!. I know of quite a few people that are way too smart for their age and people always overlook them!. They always seem to come out on top though and can rub it in their faces when they're proven wrong!.
Anyway, rambling, just go for it, you have nothing to lose!.

If it's good and well-written!. But I wouldn't take your teacher's comment to heart, nor your friends!. I've had teachers in middle school and in my freshman year tell me I was a wonderful writer, but looking back on it, I think they were just being nice, either that or they were excited that someone so young was writing a novel!. As for friends, my friends always told me I was great!. I rather brush their comments aside now because they don't know much about writing to begin with!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'm not biased!. I don't judge people by their age!. Frankly, there are lots of teens there who are mature for their age!. Of course, there are also people who don't act their age!. (sigh)

If it was good, of course I would read it!. I love reading, and I will not be deprived of a good reading experience!.

Good luck with your masterpiece!
