I think people dislike Jacob because he is a jerk, I mean I cant say somethings because it would give away the rest of the books!. But he can just be a jerk I mean in New Moon he was sweet but he just wont give up on Bella and he is very rude in the rest of the books especially in Breaking Dawn!.
