Question: Somebody explain the twilight series book covers to me!?
>!.> I don't get why stephanie meyer picked the names of the books!.!.!.
Twilight, new moon, eclipse, they were only used once in each of the books!. breaking dawn, not at all (unless I didnt notice it) but the covers are even irrelevant!.!.!.an apple, a flower, ribbon, and a chess board!? What!? do they have any meaning!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Okay!. They all have something to do with the quotes/exerts on the page before the prologue!. But specifically, here are their meanings:

Twilight- first of all, those are edward's hands!. The apple represents Bella, or the 'forbidden fruit', because their love is 'forbidden' in a sense!.

New Moon- The flower with the blood on it symbolizes that beautiful things have violent ends, i!.e!. Edward and Bella's love- don't worry, its only temporary!. They get back together!.

Eclipse- The emphasis isn't really the ribbon, its how its frayed!. It symbolizes Bella's ties to her human life being cut away, because she is going to be turned into a vampire so she and Edward could be together forever!.

Breaking Dawn- The white queen is Bella, and the red pawn is Edward!. It symbolizes Bella finally getting her way (checkmate) and how Edward was a big part in getting there (well of course he was!. Bella <3 Edward forever!)

As for the titles, for twilight, new moon and eclipse, they are all mentioned once in their books!. For Breaking Dawn, its Bella's first day as a vampire " today is both the first and last day of forever"- Bella after being changed!.

If you want a more detailed analogy of the covers and titles, go to the FAQs page on stephanie meyer's website!. Its probably more accurate than my explanation, but I hope mine at least made sense!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well I don't really know or care about the titles, but here's what I know about the covers:

Twilight: forbidden fruit!. Mostly used because of the following line from Genesis "the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil!."

New Moon: Absolutely nothing to do with the book!. Stephenie Meyer didn't choose it and has no idea why it was chosen!.

Eclipse: I'm not too sure on this one, but I think the ribbon represents Bella, and how she's tearing herself apart trying to choose between Edward and Jacob, or something!.

Breaking Dawn: the two chess pieces are Bella!. The red pawn is the human Bella, and the white queen is vampire Bella!. What Stephenie was trying to represent was Bella, who started out as the weakest player, ended up being the strongest one in the end!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

My interpretation was that the first book, the apple, was a religious reference to Adam & Eve and how the forbidden fruit was taken!. (Bella and Edwards Forbidden Love)!. The second one, the flower with a petal falling, isn't a sex reference, it's about Bella slowly coming to terms with everything and falling apart!. The torn ribbon is for everything breaking and Bella's perfect world being torn apart!. The Chess board shows the Queen piece, showing Bella's new strength since her tranfsormation!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

that apple thing is in the Twlight Movie!.
I saw the Trailer and there was this scene where bella drops her
apple on the ground and ofcourse, Edward with his totally abnormal speed catches it between his hands and it kinda looks like that picture on the front cover of that twilight book!. i guess it has a ameaning to it!.
the rest, i dont know about!.!.!.

Twilight is the time when the lines blur between day and night!. It is meant to represent the meting of Bella and Edward and her confusion over what to do!.

New Moon is the week in the month when there is no moon!. Therefore, there is no light at all!. If I remember correctly, this is where Edward and Bella are apart

Eclipse is a "blotting out of the light"

"Breaking Dawn" is the other end of night from twilight!. Again, a blurring of day and night and, of course, a new begiiningWww@QuestionHome@Com

See, this is one prime example of a terrible author!. Her cover AND title meanings have to be explained in her FAQ!. If you consider them important enough to be the very first things your audience will see, they should be thoroughly explored IN THE BOOK!. -headdesk-

Twilight: Forbidden fruit!. "Time when vampires are safe!." (WTF!?)
New Moon: No cover meaning!. Jacob!.
Eclipse: Last ties to humanity/Jacob!. Will Jacob eclipse Edward!? (Even though you know he won't!.)
Breaking Dawn: Human Bella (pawn) - - > Vampire Bella (queen)!. Don't know!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

okay well let me get this out: Breaking Dawn is called that because "the night is darkest before the dawn" and y'know if you read the book that its completely true!.

Apple is like the forbidden fruit!. Flower is like innocent love and frienship (jacob), Ribbon is separated to represent her love of both Jacob and Edward!. and the chess board!. well why dont you just go on over to stepheniemeyer!.com to see what she says about it!. she explains it a whole lot better than i can!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
