Don't forget Bella's internal conflict!. Edward warns her to stay away from him!. There are times she's scared of him, she knows he's dangerous!. Yet, she can't stay away!. Internal conflict, she constantly wars with herself over this decision!.

Another internal for Bella: When James coaxes her to her mother's house, she must decide whether to sacrifice herself in order to save everyone else or to save herself!.

External: Really, the major external conflict comes in the last act of the book when James hunts Bella and she must get away!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Basically it is that Bella and Edward are so drawn to one another, although they know it is dangerous for both of them to be together!. Dangerous for Bella because Edward could kill her, and he wants to, but he also loves her so he can't!. Dangerous for Edward because he risks having his entire world exposed to be with her!.
If you are centering on just Twilight, then the main conflict is James trying to find, and kill Bella!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Internal: Edward is drawn to Bella's blood and his instincts tell him to drink it, but he's in love with her!.
