Question: I plan to start writing my book soon, any tips!?
It'll be dark and some what fantastical, set in a rather primitive arabic-like culture and with a lot of depth and twists!. If you have any advice for me regarding things like 'tone' or 'mood' or pretty much anything that I need to know, tell me!. I want to make my book very, very, very good!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Do some research first!. If it's set in fantasy, create your whole fantasy kingdom - lay out the roads, ensure the people are fully described, so you don't change things in the middle of the book!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Make sure your characters have a lot of depth and that your main ones aren't static!.
Ensure that you have powerful themes, but don't drown out the intensity and excitement of the story by overtly stating them!.
The mood should be dark, but not too dark as too depress and disinterest readers!. For the tone, it depends on YOUR attitude towards your subject matter/theme, so that you can convey your message and augment your influence on others!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I definitely recommend that you begin your story with some sort of structure in mind!. You need not have the entire plot written, and what ever you plan is flexible, but I find it much easier to keep writing past a tough spot when I have the big picture in mind!. By "the big picture" I mean you have an idea of your main conflict and how it will be resolved, how your characters will have to change in order to overcome the problem, etc!. I spent several years writing a story that grew to 160k words but had no cohesion!. so i never finished it!. I've spent a few months writing a story with 16k words, but its much more structurally sound!. I know where it came from, where it is, and where its going, so its easier to write with a purpose and direction!.

I'm not saying that its bad to sit in front of a blank page and just start writing without any clue where its going (hey, how else would we ever write anything!?!?!?) but planning helps support the story when you're not sure what to do in any particular transition

good luck, sounds like fun :-)Www@QuestionHome@Com

Uh!.!.!. !?
Make sure you do your research!.
Write down anything that comes to mind that might be good or can work for your book!. Keep a note pad with you!.
Figure out who you're writing to!.!.like do you want to make it so teenagers can read it or is it more for young adults!?
Take your time!.
Explore different possibilites for chapters!.

And, let me know when you get it published so I can go out and buy it at Chapters!
