Question: What is the process for publishing fiction novels!?
I've written a book, edited and revised as much as I can!. All grammatical errors are fixed and formatted but now what!?
Should I get an agent!? If so, do they charge up front because I do not have much money!. Are there even any agents willing to represent an unknown writer!? What are my chances!? Or should I just send a manuscript to random publishers!? Help!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

In addition to the excellent recommendations above, work on putting together an outstanding synopsis of the book!. When researching publishers, be sure to follow the submission guidelines exactly!. These will vary from publisher to publisher!. Most publishers will tell you that the first thing they look for is if you followed their guidelines; if not, they won't even read the submission!. Do not send to several different publishers at once unless they state that simultaneous submissions are accepted!. If they do accept simultaneous submissions, most of them expect to be informed that you have submitted to other publishers, as well!.

As mentioned above, the Writer's Market is a must-have resource for authors!. Your local library may have a copy!. I have also found them in thrift stores!. They might be a year or two old, but you can look up the publisher online for the latest information after perusing the book!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

have you showed it to your friends!? first do that and then get an agent!. if you can't (then publishing is impossible) then fin a publishing company!. however, don't choose ones like scholastic!. those are HUGE!.
try those smaller ones!. they have lots of time and would love to reading your book!. the big ones sort of toss aside begginers cuz they think "why waste time on you when we've got J!.K!. rowling, suzzanne collins, mary downing hahn!.!.!. those guys!. you might not even be good!"
but the smaller ones take their time to edit and look over your book more!.

Ok!.!.!.get a copy of the Writer's Guide!.
They list the addresses and names of all the editors in Publishing, PLUS what each press is looking for!.

Save your money!.
Don't "random mail"!.
Query!. That means contact the publisher!.

There is a bare handful of agents who will look at an unpublished author!.!.!.but you might get lucky!. Don't go to one who charges a reading fee!. It could be worth their percentage to get the attention of a publisher, but you have to go into this as professionally as you can!.

Treat it like applying for a serious job, and they will take you seriously!.

Oh yes!.!.!.and one last thing!. Look around online!. I am betting not a single good publishing house accepts online submissions!. Avoid self publishing like the plague!.

Good luck!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
