Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Look out for novels by Christopher Pike - I was addicted to his books when I moved on to them after Point Horror, which I also loved!. He did a 'Last Vampire' series which was very good!. Most of his stories have a supernatural or horror feel to them!. None of them are overly long!.

Other horror books I recommend:

Haunted by James Herbert
Leaving Poppy - Kate Cann
Witch Hill - Marcus Sedgwick
Devil's Footsteps / The Intruders - E!.E!. Richardson

also if you like 'Point Horror' try the 'Nightmares' books!. I remember one called I!.O!.U!. that I thought was really good!.

Oh, and as for Stephen King !. !. !. I don't really like his either, but this novella,
The Langoliers
Is both excellent and terrifying!.
also, I found his "The Shining" gave me nightmares !. !. !.Www@QuestionHome@Com

really if you like short horror stories get your self a copy of edgar alan poe, he has got to be one of the best ever, all the tales of the unexspected are from his writings, you may have to go to a library to get it though, also Bram Stoker, is excellent, but for variety get poe!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I know you say you don't like Stephen King, but you should give his novelette "Cycle of the Werewolf" a chance!. It is not long, and is broken up into 12 short chapters, each of which is it's own story!.!.!.!.but they are all tied together somehow!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
