Question: Do you know of a good book (not textbook) that covers American history, starting from the beginning!?

I wish to learn more about our nation since I know admittedly little but I don't quite know which book, or books, to turn to!. Any ideas/suggestions!? Thanks!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You might want to try some historical fiction, like "Johnny Tremaine" by Esther Forbes, or "The Bastard" by John Jakes, or "Burr" by Gore Vidal, or "Rise To Rebellion" by Jeff Shaara!. These are all narratives about fictional people mixing with the real, historical figures in building the US!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If you'd like an alternative (although still non-fiction) view of history try the book, "Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee", by Dee Brown!. I found it very informative and better yet a good read!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
